Oracle Visualization techniques

Question:  I am doing performance tuning and I need a method for visualizing my results.  What are the accepted techniques for visualizing Oracle trend data?

Answer:  Oracle time-series data can be visualized in a variety of ways.  For Oracle trend data visualization, a linear regression (sum of the least squares, single,. double and triple exponential smoothing) can be used for predictive modeling and capacity planning.

You can use free tools such as MS-Excel chart wizard for visualizing Oracle data.

Other BC Oracle visualization tools include:

  • Ion for Oracle - Ion is designed specifically for visualizing AWR and STATSPACK performance information
  • Excel-DB - This is a native Excel spreadsheet extension that allows fast interaction with Oracle data
