Some DBAs say that Oracle development has gone overseas, and
improper English is one symptom of un-American code.
To illustrate this point, check out this double-negative message
in the RMAN-07505:
RMAN-07505: no files found to be unknown to the
database
So, if no files are found to be unknown, does this mean
that all files are known?
If all files are known, why display the RMAN-07505 message at
all?
According to the
oerr utility, there is no reason at all for this message:
RMAN-07505: no files found
to be unknown to the database
Cause: This is an informational message
displayed by the CATALOG command. The command either found no files,
or all files that matched the specified search pattern were already
present in the target database control file.
Action: No action is required.
