Data Architect/DBA

9i, 10g and 11g, RAC, Oracle Financials version 11, 11i and R12, Oracle Application servers 10g and SOA Suite.

From: April, 2006 To: April, 2015

Employed to support, design, build, migrate and manage multiple Oracle databases in multiple HA and RAC configurations, Oracle Financials and Manufacturing 11.5.10 in a multi-tiered environment and Oracle warehouse using Oracle Warehouse Builder.  Additional assignments included installation of the Oracle Application Server (Financials, 10g OAS, BPEL, SOA Suite) in a AIX and clustered  Linux system environments. 

Day to Day responsibilities include monitoring production database storage, usage & fragmentation, managing database applications including users & shared data, database security, backup and recovery (RMAN), (SQL-BackTrack), standby databases (Data Guard) and HA monitoring and troubleshooting Oracle streams, GoldenGate and SharePlex, and upgrades of  9i and 10gR1 databases to 10gR2 and 11gR1 RAC in multi OS servers (AIX, SUN, Linux). 

Support and assist developers in design and tuning of application code (C, C++, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, BPEL) using various tools (sqlXpert, Toad, OEM, Jdeveloper, Erwin, Visio) and by applying various upgrades and patches for both the Databases and applications servers. 

Database Administrator

From: September, 2005 To: April, 2006

On contract to support, design, build and manage multiple Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g databases in a Windows 2003 and Sun Solaris operating system environments.  Responsible for migration of 8i and 9i databases to 10g Release 2 along with install RAC on Linux Enterprise 3.0 test servers. 

The installation, configuration and administration of an Enterprise Oracle 10g application server farm (HTTP(S), Forms, Reports, Portal, Java, PL/SQL).  Perform Unix C & C++, Java, Perl and  PL/SQL code review and updates as required during development/conversion along with training DBA and developers on new 10g functions, Jdeveloper, Oracle’s Enterprise Manager, RMAN, DataGuard, Flashback and Oracle grid control.

 

Database Administrator (DBA)

8i, 9i and 10g, Oracle Financials version 11 and 11i, Oracle Application servers 9ias and 10g.

From: June, 2000 To: September 2005

Hired to support, design, build and manage multiple Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g databases, to include installation of the Oracle Application Server (Financials, 9iAS and 10g) in a Windows 2003 and AIX operating system environments.  Lead DBA/developer of a 7-member team on design and deployment of Risk and Fraud warehouse using Oracle Warehouse Builder, Jdeveloper .  Lead DBA of a 5-mermber team performing Oracle Financials upgrade from 10.7 to 11.0.3 and providing DBA support for 11.0.3 to 11.5.3 upgrade on AIX to include cloning.

Manager, Architecture/System Analysis

From: December, 1998 To: June, 2000

Responsible to oversee and assign personnel to support the evaluation and implementation of an Internet/Intranet infrastructure for the Chase Cardmembers Services (CCS).  Managed 10 FTE and 11 contractors to support new and on-going projects, supporting both the business and IT teams in providing a well-documented architecture, design and system specification based on proven technology and solid business requirements. 

Additionally, assigned as the lead architect for the corporate wide Decision Engine technology solution team.  The decision engine selection was based on formulating best market practices and within the constraints of both new and existing backend systems.  The decision engine supports the overall infrastructure for middle tier messaging, queuing and decisioning. Additionally, supported the installation, maintenance and data transformation of operational data from the Internet to production data warehouse.  Utilize Platinum Model Mart and Erwin 3.5 to design and manage the configuration and design impacts to the production databases and warehouse.

 

Database Administrator (DBA)/Web Server Administrator

From: May, 1998 To: December 1998

Responsible for installation & support of Oracle 7 and 8 databases, monitoring storage, usage & fragmentation, managing database applications including users & shared data, database security, backup and recovery & user assistance in a Unix and Windows NT/95 environment.  Assigned as a member of the data modeling/DBA team for a Data Warehouse project. This 800-gigabyte plus database was designed and deployed using the Erwin modeling tool for the Risk Analysis group. 

Responsibilities included supporting design team in star schema design, along with analyzing and developing scripts for data transformation, aggregation and feeding of warehouse in a HP UNIX environment.  Supported Year 2000 as Y2K coordinator for the decision support software group.  Additionally, responsible for managing the Oracle Web Server 3.0 in both an NT and Unix configuration to include web application development and deployment utilizing Oracle’s Enterprise Development Suite.

 

Database Administrator (DBA)

From: August, 1994 To: May, 1998

Responsible for administrating multiple (version 7.3) Oracle database instances in a Unix (Solaris) environment. Responsibilities included design, tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery. An additional responsibility includes supporting application developers on various on-going projects. Utilized Designer 2000 to manage database configuration as well as the logical and physical design.

Application Manager

From: May, 1992 To: August, 1994

Responsible for 5 direct and 7 contractors employees on company sponsor Oracle Logistics Engineering project. Managed project using MS project and meet all deliverable within budget and on schedule. Was a hands on application manager, by providing and developing application design and coding to include mentoring junior developers.  The project was developed in Forms 4.0 and migrated to Forms 4.5 using Developer 2000 with Oracle database backend and is currently being used by 300+ users. Additionally, created small applications (5 to 10) users, using Visual Basic 3.0/4.0.

 

Senior Programmer/Analyst

From: July, 1988 To: May, 1992

Provided application support and development to 300+ end users. Support various COTS on Unix, NT, 95, and Windows operating system. Main development software was Visual Basic, C & C++, Forms 4.0, FoxPro and shell scripting. Main focus was development of utility programs in support of 3rd party software. Area of support was Engineering and Logistics. Wrote over 100 utility scripts and programs.

 

Engineer

From: January, 1985 To: July, 1988

Work in various Engineering positions in support of customer requirements. Provide on-site repair and support to end product, which included system training on various Avionics and Airframe systems. Travel to customer site in various international locations as well as many US locations.

In charge of Avionics Shop of 35 to 45 personnel responsible for repairing Communications, Navigation’s, Radar and Flight Control Systems. Honorable Discharge.
