Aaron is an experienced RAC expert with almost two decades of progressive experience in high availability technology for mission-critical Oracle systems. 

A former Managing Principal Consultant with Oracle Corporation, Aaron has extensive experience with large system architectures including Oracle Application Server and Oracle Data Warehouse Technologies.

Combining his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with his extensive hands-on experience, Aaron has complete mastery of the Oracle technology stack, including front-end Oracle eBusiness Suite Financials (AR. GL, FA), Oracle Apex, PL/SQL and SQL*Forms. 

Aaron is also a military veteran with an active TOP SECRET security clearance.

Serve as primary Technical Architect and Database Administrator for a U.S. Navy client whose environment consists of Oracle 10g and 11g RAC databases on Redhat Linux version 4 and Oracle Unbreakable Linux version 5 (32 and 64 bit), Oracle Application Server 10.1.3, Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3, Oracle Application Express 3.0.1, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 10.1.3, Oracle Internet Directory, Oracle Single-Sign On Server, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Oracle Application Express, and custom OC4J Applications. 

Perform tasks in administration of databases including capacity planning, instance creation, performance tuning, storage management, backup and recovery and general troubleshooting.  Successfully implemented DoD Common Access Card (CAC) authentication within Oracle Identity Management Infrastructures.  Participate in various database development activities such as designing and implementing ETL processes using PL/SQL stored procedures, SQL scripting, and various interfaces to disparate database systems.

Installed and configured Oracle 9i and 10g Real Application Cluster (RAC) databases on Redhat Linux AS versions 3 and 4 and Windows 2003 Advanced Server using both Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS) and Automated Storage Management (ASM).  Designed, built, and configured several distributed Oracle 10g Application Server web environments whose components include Oracle Portal, Oracle Web Cache Oracle Internet Directory, Oracle Single-Sign On Server, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Forms and Reports. 

Assisted customers in developing backup and recovery strategies.  Performed various tasks in administration of databases including capacity planning, instance creation, performance tuning, storage management, backup and recovery and general troubleshooting.  Participated in various database development activities such as designing and implementing ETL processes using PL/SQL stored procedures, SQL scripting, and various interfaces to disparate database systems. 

Set up and configured a Dell/EMC AX100 Fiber Channel storage device for use with an Oracle 10g RAC.  Installed and configured an array of server-side software including Oracle Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager Grid Control, Oracle Lite, Oracle Mobile Development Kit.  Performed reports requirements gathering and developed reports using Oracle Discoverer reporting tool.

Served as Administrator of Commander, Naval Reserve Forces Command Oracle 8i (8.1.7) and 9i (9.0.1) databases.  Responsibilities included data modeling, backup and recovery, performance tuning, maintaining data security, applying upgrades and patches to the database servers and Oracle 9iAS software, storage monitoring, ETL process design, development, implementation and automation via scripting and scheduling. 

Other responsibilities included Oracle Portal 9iAS administration and development, and development using Oracle Discoverer 4, Visual Basic 6 and Visual Basic for Applications.  Responsible for writing documentation including software requirements specifications and detailed design documents.  Responsible for overall web architecture planning and implementation involving installation and configuration of Oracle 9iAS Web Portal and Oracle 11i eBusiness Suite and Oracle Balanced Scorecard, and obtaining and applying SSL certificates per DoD standards. Performed resource and budgetary planning for software development projects.  Worked closely and meet regularly with clients and internal developers regarding application requirements, design and direction.

Technical Consultant

Conducted planning and sizing for Oracle databases running on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, HP UNIX, and Sun Solaris UNIX. Perform the installation of Oracle database server software and creation of Oracle databases and objects on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, HP UNIX, and Sun Solaris for the Aspect Customer DataMart product.  Designed, coded, tested and delivered a custom Visual Basic 5.0 application which retrieves data from Oracle and Informix databases via ODBC calls and loads data into SQL Server 7.0 data warehouse.  

Responsible for various other tasks including custom report development in Crystal Reports and Visual Basic 5.0, code modification in C++ and Visual Basic, writing Oracle stored procedures in PL/SQL, troubleshooting network connectivity and firewall and security issues, and training customers on the Aspect Customer DataMart product.  Perform a range of administrative tasks including project planning and management, participating in the sales process and customer presentations, and writing technical documentation.        

 

1998 to  2000

Installed and configured Oracle7.3 and Oracle8 database servers on Windows NT 4.0 to establish environments for application interface testing.  Served as primary contact for clients and team members dealing with Oracle databases running on Windows NT 4.0 test servers.  Stress tested the architecture of an OLTP application consisting of Visual Basic 5.0 clients, Neon Systems middleware, and a DB2 Version 5 database server running on an IBM OS/390 mainframe to ensure that the architecture can support 10,000 concurrent users. 

Worked closely with primary DB2 DBA to tune application SQL and make appropriate modifications to DB2 database including adding indexes and constraints. Served as primary resource on issues regarding the Visual Basic 5.0 client architecture of the application.  Assisted in the configuration management of both client and server sides to track the application through various stages of development, testing, and production. Performed administrative tasks on Windows NT 4.0 LAN.  Performed various tasks in technical support of application development and deployment including assisting junior programmers with writing and debugging VB and COBOL code, traveling to client sites to troubleshoot problems, and handling technical questions from deployment and client I.S. personnel in the field.
