Burleson Consulting hires rock star!
Burleson consulting has the most rigorous hiring
criteria in the database industry and we pride ourselves in hiring
the very best and the brightest database superstars in America.
We pay
top dollar and treat our experts like rock stars.
Well, it turns out that we did hire a rock star, at least for a
brief time in 1991 when his band had a top-10 hit single! The
talent of my experts never ceases to amaze me.

Last night Janet and I had dinner with
Mike Culp, and he casually
noted that his band had a top-10 hit single back in 1991.
Mike was a member of the band Saigon Kick, and he still
plays lead guitar in his hometown of Greenville, South
Carolina.
|
Best of all, it was a "hair band"!

Mike Culp at the Guitar for Saigon Kick
Mike Culp was a member of Saigon Kick, the band
that produced the 1991 hit single "Love is on the way", here is a
video.
That's Mike, playing in the intro, with his "hair
band" doo and goatee!
Oracle superstars have many talents
You
can always tell a superstar because they tend to have a wide variety
of skills. In addition to
jetting around the globe solving complex Oracle problems, Mike also
owns three restaurants which he has automated with cameras so that he
can manage them remotely.
 |
Michael Culp is a seasoned IT professional and
holder of two Oracle Masters certificates, with over 25
years of experience with database technology.
Like most genius's Mike has many talents.
He plays guitar and sings in his bands
HiBrydz and
The Barley Boyz where he
still records new rock songs.
|
Mike shares many common interests with our other
staff members. He enjoys collecting
classic autos, a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 & 1967 Chevy Camaro (I have
a 1956 Chevy Pickup, a 1964 Mustang convertible and a 1972 Rolls
Royce). Like most of our consultants, Mike is also a certified
open water scuba diver and he enjoys diving with the BC staff when we
visit our Caribbean clients.
Forming the BC BandBack when IBM
ruled the world of Data Processing (The 1970's and 1980's), IBM would
recruit top talent from among music majors, often ignoring the
computer science majors. An IBM executive once told me that
musical ability correlates strongly with logical thinking and the
ability to manage complex computer systems.
I think that we may have enough talent to do a
Burleson Consulting Rock band!

Our son Andrew
Sean Burleson plays bass guitar in Greenville, North
Carolina while he attends graduate school.
On weekends
he plays with "The Charming Youngsters" to large crowds of hot
screaming co-eds.
Given his circumstances, I don't blame
him for taking his time finishing his masters degree . . .
|
Janet
is also an accomplished piano player and I love for her to tickle my
ivories. Me. I'm devoid of musical talent, I played cymbals in
school, not terribly challenging. I never learned to read music
either, the conductor would just point me when he wanted a cymbal
crash!
And here is Andy Burleson, jamming with the Charming Youngsters
at East Carolina University:
